Pause before acting
Scams often create urgency: a package problem, account closure, prize, refund, or family emergency. Do not tap links, open attachments, send money, or share a code.
Check independently
Open the company’s app or type its known website address yourself. For a message that appears to come from someone you know, call them using a number already saved in your contacts.
If you already responded
Change affected passwords from a trusted device, contact your bank if money or card details were involved, and report the message through the real service.
